Payment Accepted
We accept cash, check, and credit card for payment. Payment is expected at the time of service.
If you are using insurance you may be billed after your insurance claim has been processed. We require a credit card on file in our HIPAA Compliant Electronic Health Record. Outstanding balances may be automatically charged to the card on file once per month. Invoices and statements are available at any time on the client portal. Because we are considered a health service, you can use a flexible spending card if you have one, or you can submit your itemized bill from us for reimbursement by your flexible spending plan.
We do not participate in single case agreements with insurers.
Patient’s Financial Responsibility
Each client is responsible for managing the finances of the psychotherapy relationship. Your health insurance may cover all or part of the fees. You should contact your health insurance company before engaging in services. Each client is responsible for payment for services rendered on the day of the appointment. We require a credit/debit card on file for each client and services are billed the day of the service. Once per month, unpaid balances may be automatically billed to the credit card on file. We accept cash, check, or card. We also accept flexible benefits cards. If you would like someone else to pay on your account (i.e. a parent/spouse/etc) and you are over the age of 18, we will need a Release of Information filled out before we can talk to that person about your account.
Questions to ask your insurance company BEFORE making your first appointment:
- Does my insurance have mental health benefits and cover therapy?
- What is my current deductible? And do I have to meet my deductible before insurance will cover?
- Will I have a co-payment or need to pay towards co-insurance?
- Is there a limit on the number of sessions I can attend in a year?
- Do I need a referral from my primary care physician before I can see a therapist?
- If you are requesting a specific service, ask about that. Many insurance policies do NOT cover couples/marriage therapy and some do not cover family therapy.
- Is this provider considered in-network for this plan
The biggest issues we see are:
- Having a large deductible or a health savings account and not being aware of the out of pocket cost
- Not coordinating with secondary insurance.
If we do not have that information and the claim is denied, the patient will be responsible.
Good Faith Estimate
Fees are clearly stated in the Fees/Rates section above. Each client will talk with their counselor about frequency of sessions. You will never be charged more than the rate clearly stated in the Fees/Rates section.
Because each case is different and healing time is different for every person, we are not able to give an exact number of sessions, but rather a range of frequency (ie: once a week).

Do you accept insurance?

We do not participate in single case agreements or bill out-of-network for other plans.
How much does a therapy session cost?
Session fees depend on appointment length. Our rates are: Initial appointment — $220; 16–37 minute session — $165; 38–52 minute session — $195; 53–60 minute session — $210. Payment is expected at the time of service.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, and credit or debit card. We also accept HSA and flexible spending account (FSA) cards. A credit card on file is required for all clients. Outstanding balances may be automatically charged to the card on file once per month.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth appointments for clients located anywhere in Iowa. Telehealth sessions are conducted through our electronic health record platform and are available for most services we provide.
What is your cancellation and no-show policy?
A $100 fee applies for no-call/no-show appointments and appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. This fee is not covered by insurance. Please contact us as early as possible if you need to reschedule.
